Larimar is a rare, blue pectolite gemstone and the national stone of the Dominican Republic. Its color ranges from light blue to deep blue, sometimes with streaks of white, green, or red, resembling the Caribbean sky and sea. The name "Larimar" combines "Lari" from Larissa, the discoverer's daughter, and the Spanish word "mar" meaning "sea". Larimar wasn't officially named or mined until 1974.

 Whilst there are 195 countries in the world, Larimar can only be found in one place: the Dominican Republic. Actually, it gets even better than that, Larimar stone is only found on one single mountain within the entire country. Rare? Yes
